Welcome to the Sulligent School Libraries!  

The Library Media Centers support the Alabama State Course of Study.



Mission Statement

To assist in all levels of academic need; as well as, providing a relaxed atmosphere that is conducive to academic research, leisurely reading, and actively promoting life-long learning.


Vision Statement

The Library Media program provides access to information and ideas for all users.  It affords opportunities for students to appreciate literature and the cultural arts, to learn creative thinking skills, to become critical seekers of information and ideas and to use instructional and educational technology effectively, so they may become independent life-long learners.

     The Library's Purpose

     To assist with research, literacy, instruction, technology, and information literacy.
                                                                    Our main goals:
  •  Assisting in information literacy
  •  Providing materials to support our teachers
  •  Helping students to become more competent, fluent, and engaged readers
  •  Creating a safe place for intellectual freedom  
     The overall goal is to create life-long learners who are ready to meet the 
                        informational challenges of the 21st century.



Library Policies

General Information

  • Each student must have a separate pass to come to the library during class.
  • Food or drink is not allowed in the library.
  • Students should be quiet and respectful of all individuals and library property.  
  • Work areas should be left neat and clean.                                                            
  • All materials used should be re-shelved or returned to the circulation desk.
  • Damaging or unauthorized use of computers, computer systems, or computer networks will result in disciplinary action. Do not change settings, add passwords, or screensavers to the computers.


  • Students do not need a library card to check out a book.
  • Students are responsible for all materials checked out.
  • Students should not check out for other students.
  • Books are circulated for two weeks. Two books total per student is the limit.
  • Students may not check out another book if they have any overdue material.
Lost Materials
  • The cost of a lost book will be determined by the replacement cost.
  • Students with overdue books will not be allowed to check out any additional books.

Newspapers and Periodicals

  • Newspapers and periodicals are in room use only and are not circulated.
  • Materials need to be returned to the circulation desk by the end of the class period.
  • Discarded magazines and newspapers from which articles may be cut are available. Please see Mrs. Tidwell.
